Essential Basic Tips on How to Start Making Money Online

So you've decided to start an online business. Before you start having those big cash flow dreams, stop and get some tips for having a successful online business!

Here are some basic tips on how to start making money online.

1. It takes time and work to build a business anywhere. If you want to build a business, you will have to be willing to research and be patient. Nothing happens instantly and you have to do some work in order to make money online.

2. Prepare a business plan for your online business and revise that plan periodically. Your business plan should be thought of as a living document. As with any business, you will initially find out what works and what does not work, and change your plan accordingly as you go.

3. Be very careful about buying web space and pre-packaged website templates for your business. You'll find that later on, it will be difficult to change the site. In some cases, it’s better outsourcing the web design with a freelancer and purchasing your own domain and installing the site yourself.

4. Run your online home business like a business. A lot of people make the mistake of treating their internet business merely as a website, which can be very detrimental because running an online business requires an approach that you would have with an offline business.

5. Once you have your site built and online, your next job will be to let the world know you are there. This is the biggest job there is to make money online. It is a never ending task. No one will even know your online business site exists if you don't work on promoting it. Your marketing plan needs to include search engine optimization (SEO). This is important because you want your site to rank in the top 10 of search engine query results. You would be wise to study SEO techniques or hire the services of a SEO consultant.

With Google Adword, Overture and other similar advertising, it is possible to drive targeted traffic to your site by finding keywords that have very low bids. You will be able to measure your conversion ratio of such traffic with sales in real-time. These are the basic things that are needed to make money online. If any of these things are missing there could be inefficiency in how the online business works.

I Want To Work At Home And Make Money Online. What Is There To Learn?

This is what beginners must be wondering about- "What is there to learn?" All the websites out there are talking about making money online, from comforts of one's home. They also mention that anybody can do it. A housewife, a retired, senior citizen, new mother, student anybody - and everyone has an equal to survive and succeed. "What is there to learn after all?"

The websites also say, you don't need money, experience or qualification to start a home business. All you need is a computer at home and internet access. Okay, I have a computer and access to internet. Now, what does it take? What do I need to learn?

Well, one step at a time. There are many kinds of jobs or business' you can do from home. You can join a program that will send you surveys and you will be paid to answer each one of these. See? It fits the bill. To take online surveys all you need is a computer and internet access. And everyone has an equal chance to survive and succeed.

Likewise you can buy a domain name, build a site of your own, (like I do) sell various products on it. When people buy from your site, you get your commissions. In this kind of home business you need to learn the techniques to move your website up the search engine. The techniques are available online. Free of cost. Techniques such as having tightly themed, relevant content on your site, optimizing, exchanging links, writing articles, attending and contributing in forums, placing press-releases.. and so on. They are simple step by step techniques that you pick up as you move ahead.

The home business website takes time to pick up. It also takes a while for you to get a proper hang of things. The learning is an ongoing process. Everyday something is upgraded. Every visit of google leaves footprints behind. You may have a question that needs immediate answering and you can get it answered right away.. You just have to know which word to type in the search engine to get what you want. And your query will be answered right there.

If you have understood what I mean then, I can make it simpler for you. See, you have a website about home business and someone is looking for home business. When he/she types home business in the search engine, your site has to show within the first 5-10 options. This means you are high up in the search engine. And to reach here, is the name of the game! This is what is there to learn. How to position your site high up in the search engines for particular keywords (e.g make money online, work at home, home business etc). Once your site reaches here, you have to put in efforts to stay there. Even Julia Roberts and Tom Cruise have to make an effort to stay at the top, who are we?

What I Have Learned So Far About Earning A Living Online...

In my short time on the Internet, I have learned a few key lessons that might help you also in your quest to find the success you seek through your Internet connection.

1. Success Can Be Found In The Company You Keep...

Finding and surrounding yourself with good people, who share common goals and a willingness to help one another, is important. We are all learning how to be successful, each and every day. And by working together, we can accelerate our knowledge to the benefit of all.

2. Selling Other People's Products Is The Easiest Way To Get Started...

When people first come online, they know that they want to make money online, but they don't have the first idea of how they intend to accomplish their goal.

For those who are looking to get on the fast track of making money online, Affiliate Marketing and Network Marketing was developed to help them to reach their goals more quickly.

Affiliate Marketing requires for you to register with an Affiliate website to sell their products through your website or newsletter. The Affiliate website will give you a special Tracking URL to use in your advertising, and every time one of your reader's visit your Affiliate Tracking URL and buy a product or service, you will earn a commission.

Network Marketing or Multi-Level Marketing is a step up from Affiliate Marketing. Through Network Marketing, you can take the same approach as with Affiliate Marketing, except that you can develop a network of like-minded individuals who are interested in selling the same product or service as you, allowing you to make a tiered-commission from their sales in addition to any commissions that you can earn from your own sales.

Multiplication is the most important benefit of Network Marketing. It allows you to multiply your earning capability with the specific company, by multiplying the number of people who will contribute sales to your bottom line.

3. Multiple Streams of Income The Foundation for Our Long-Term Success...

We should "never put all of our eggs in one basket." We should never put all of our energy into one company, product or service.

Not all products and services are created equal. Not all compensation plans are created equal. Additionally, some companies offer products and services that have seasonal selling cycles.

Multiple Streams of Income allow us to find a more even balance in our income levels, year-around.

4. It Takes Money To Make Money...

It does not take a LOT of money, but it does take money. If you are afraid to spend money on your own business, why should people trust you enough to give you their money?

When you sign up as an Affiliate for a company or as a Network Marketing Associate, the company you are dealing with will always give you a special Tracking URL to refer your potential clients.

The reality is that you don't want to directly market your Tracking URL.

Some advertisers will not allow advertising to appear if it contains an Affiliate Tracking URL. If you use articles as I have done to promote your business, most article directory managers expressly forbid the use of Affiliate Tracking URL's inside the body of the article and in the About the Author information that follows the article.

When you advertise, you ALWAYS want to promote yourself and not someone else. Suppose for example that two years from now you decide that you don't want to promote a specific Affiliate Program anymore. If you have spent all of your energy promoting your Affiliate URL, then you will have nothing left to show for your time and efforts. On the other hand, if you have been promoting your own domain for the same length of time, changing affiliate programs mid-stream will not affect your bottom line. All of your link building will stay with you once you have made your decision to move on to another program.

For ten or twenty dollars a year, you can register your own domain name. For an extra five to ten dollars a month, you can get your own web hosting account for your domain. This $70 to $130 a year is really the only money that you HAVE to spend. All other expenses are optional.

At the end of the day, you should only be advertising your own domain, which can in turn redirect traffic to the Affiliate Programs, Network Marketing Programs, products or services that you want to recommend to others.

5. Sometimes It Makes A Lot Of Sense To Hire Out Third-Party Service Providers...

Let's face it. All enterprise is a trade of "money for time" or "money for products".

Some people can do a job on your behalf for a specific rate, and that person can deliver superior results in much less time than it would take for you to do it yourself. Pay the expert to do his or her thing on your behalf, so that you can stay focused on the tasks that you can do economically.

In the end, I know your finances might be tight, but some people will be able to do things for you that you either cannot do on your own, or you cannot do in a reasonable amount of time.

Be willing to try a new task on your own, but if you find that you are not getting the results that you want, figure out how much time it will take you to do it on your own, and don't be afraid to multiply that number of hours by a minimum of $10 an hour to figure out what an equitable trade of money for time would be in your case.

6. Don't Forget To Tell Your Reader's What You Want Them To Do...

Many new webmasters forget to tell their visitors what they would like for them to do. There is a reason why you have taken steps to bring people to your website. Don't be afraid to tell your readers what they should do and why they should do it.

It really is not enough to say, "Great new program, Click Here." You must tell your reader how they will BENEFIT from your recommendation. People make "buying decisions" based on what the product or service will do for them. You need to help your reader to make the decisions that you would like for them to make.

7. Promote Yourself Always...

Set up your own domain and promote all of your programs through your domain. Once again, "don't put all of your eggs in one basket." Promote your domain through various methods. In time, you will learn that some methods generate better results than others, and you can start to trim your promotional activities to just a few systems, but never ever rest your laurels on one method of promotion. Always keep your eyes to the horizon to find other methods that will generate the kinds of results you are looking for. Don't be afraid to try new things... And don't forget to measure your costs versus your results.

Your customers have diverse interests and activities. Your goal is to get into their line of sight, so that you can attract them to your website. A certain percentage of your visitors will always buy what you are selling, so the secret to your success will be to put as many eyeballs on your website as you can, though whatever methods you can use to get them there.

8. Never Stop Learning...

Having the knowledge to run a successful offline business does not necessarily translate into having the knowledge to run a successful online business. There is a lot to learn, and the best way to keep up and to succeed is to make the effort to learn as much as you can as often as you can.

You never know exactly where you will find your next gem of information that will help take you to the next level. The next article you read might be the one to give you the idea that will make you a millionaire.

Keep on reading, and never stop learning.

How To Make Money Online With A Newsletter

Many online internet marketers tell us "its all in the list" and many people lap up stories of guru's emailing thousands in their online list and making a huge profit in the process. Actually you too can start your own email list and make money from it as well. This article will highlight six tips on how you can make more money from your own email list.

1. Have a paragraph to disclose something personal so as to create trust between yourself and your newsletter reader

Most people fail to realize that the reader of a newsletter is very much a person like you and me and they have emotions and feelings and are not reading your newsletter purely for the topic at hand but they need to trust you before they can purchase stuff you recommend. A good way to create trust in your newsletters is to add a personal touch to your emails with some personal revelation that can connect you with your readers. The greater your readers trust you, the more likely they will purchase the stuff that you recommend thus earning you a commission in the process.

2. Spend time keeping up with your area of interest To be able to capture and keep your newsletter audience, it is important that you remain on top of your area of interest. Spending some time daily keeping up to date with your area of interest by reading online news websites and online magazines is a good way to keep up to date. When your tips are current and effective, your readers will thank you and this increases the chances of them telling their friends about your newsletter.

You might want to write some good articles on trends and developments in your area as well and publish them in article directories and then refer to your own articles in your newsletter so as to establish your credibility and authority in your area of interest. The greater influence that you hold over your newsletter readers would mean greater profits for you when you should choose to email them a special offer.

3. Answer your newsletter subscribers Many newsletter publishers are very happy when their newsletter subscribers actually take the time to email them and ask them questions. This helps create trust and you can always grab a free testimonial for your newsletter after you have successfully helped your newsletter reader.

On the other hand, ignoring your subscribers questions is detrimental as you could see and increase in newsletter subscription opt out. So the simple solution is to take the time replying to emails and questions posed to you.

4. Ensure your email newsletter gets delivered

Today with the proliferation of span filters there are many emails that are not getting through to their intended readers. There are a couple of solutions to this problem:

One of them involves putting your newsletter on your website and emailing your readers with just your link to your website to reduce your chances of your email getting caught by the span filters.

Another method involves ditching the whole idea of email and using direct to desktop readers. Your subscriber downloads a desktop reader and when your newsletter is ready for collection, your desktop readers will then inform you.

With a greater delivery rate, you can see your profits increase exponentially.

5. Use attention grabbing headers

The really advanced affiliate marketers test everything and one of the things they do involves testing their headlines. The use of attention emotion stirring words tend to increase the chances of your newsletter reader opening your email. An example would be in order here. "Secrets of wealth generation revealed in this issue of your Widget newsletter".

Your header therefore should invoke curiosity in the reader so that they open up your newsletter email and click to view it. Obviously the more eyeballs you have reading your email the higher your profits are going to be.

6. Choose applicable affiliate programs

One simple way to make money from your email list is to recommend affiliate products that fit in with the theme of your list. So if your list deals with children education for instance, you could recommend children education toys to your list as a possible choice for a Christmas present. Always choose products that you have personally seen and consider good. Treat your email list like gold and your readers will be very loyal and thank you for the recommendation.

In conclusion, making money with an email list is not that difficult but it takes effort and each step you take today will pay off richly in the future. By treating your newsletter readers as your friends, they will be able to trust you and your recommendations and help you earn commissions when they do purchase what you tell them. The world of online internet marketing is ever expanding and you can make some money with your email list today if you make the effort to try.

How To Avoid Paid-To-Surf Scams

There are a lot of money-generating schemes that thrives in the Internet today. There are a number of ways in which one can generate income through the web. However, with so many schemes to choose from, people are perennially confused as to which schemes are legitimate and which are bogus.

Paid-to-surf programs are one of the hottest schemes that are sought by so many people nowadays. However, paid-to-surf programs are also very controversial, there are many issues with regards to the legality of paid-to-surf programs in general and how they operate. True enough, there are paid-to-surf programs out there that really pay their members and are not scams, yet.

What are paid-to-surf programs?

Paid-to-surf programs are businesses which employs the idea of advertising in television. They get funding from advertisers and develop a pool of members who would want to be paid by viewing the ads of the advertisers. An advertiser pays the paid-to-surf program and the paid-to-surf program invites people to view a pool of ads which are rotated every 20 seconds or so, and the viewers are paid a certain percentage everyday they surf the advertisements. The number of advertisements usually very for each program and the rotation time varies as well.

The sweet business model of the paid-to-surf programs entices many people to join their pools. All one has to do is to click on the "view" button in their account pages in the website of the paid-to-surf program and the money flows into their accounts.

The problem with the business models of paid-to-surf programs is basically very simple yet very important. Unlike television advertisements, where people actually watch advertisements which they find visually appealing, there is no incentive for staying in from of the computer to view all (say 100) web pages per day just to get paid, when he can just leave the computer on until the rotation runs out. This is a basic flaw in the business model of paid-to-surf programs.

Okay, so what's the problem with paid-to-surf programs? What makes some of these programs scams? The problem is that some programs would let members join for free, at first and then, they would require the members to put in money to be able to withdraw their earnings from the past. People are enticed to put in money because they are constantly brainwashed that the money that they put in will be doubled or tripled. Then, all of a sudden, the program disappears like a burst bubble.

Although there are legitimate paid-to-surf programs out there, the number of scams is far more enormous. Here are some few tips on how to avoid these so-called paid-to-surf scams:

1. Join only those programs that are around for a while

The best choice that one has in terms of choosing an paid-to-surf program is to choose the one that has been established and still is in existence.

2. Trust true testimonials

Trust those testimonials which are from trusted friends. The testimonials in the sites of these "paid-to-surf" programs are usually tools for brainwashing people.

3. Check the company's eligibility

One should check with the secretary of the state where the program was incorporated before putting any money into it.

These are only some few tips on how to avoid paid-to-surf scams. Take these precautionary steps and you could be on your way to promote your websites and make money online with paid-to-surf programs.

How A Beginner Could Choose a Suitable Affiliate Program To Kick Start Online Home Business

If you are new to online business, like I used to be, the fastest way to start your Internet online business is by becoming an affiliate to sell some one else's products because it allows you to make money from your website visitors without having to worry about shipping and payment processing.

The products from the affiliate owners are usually information products such as electronic books (eBook) and software that can be delivered as a file that is then downloaded directly to your customers' computers. They could be repeatedly reproduced and downloaded and sold at no cost. There is no packing, shipping and delivery cost.

The question you have to ask yourself is how can you determine which of the thousands of affiliate programs available in the Internet is suitable?

Many beginners encountered disappointment and frustration after signing up with some affiliate programs only to find out later that they eventually end up having brought in very little money if any, after wasting a lot of time and effort.

Hence the choice of affiliate programs is of utmost importance.

The most important criteria you should look for are:

1) They must offer products that the market is asking for or that are already in demand i.e. the low hanging fruit type of products, rather than creating new ideas hoping that the consumers would be convinced to buy.

2) The affiliate program must offer good commission to their affiliates. Although different people define "good" differently, generally if it could bringin about
$ 500/month as a start, it would be something worth looking into. As mentioned, affiliate programs offer high commission for their information products such as e-books and software. The owners of these affiliate programs can afford to give large commissions (50% or more) because of low cost of "production".

3) It must be easy to set up with step by step easy to follow instruction. And the website should be simple and yet attractive.

4) They should provide you with banners, images, links, sample ads and articles and emails to help you promote their products. Besides, they should also have a good support system for helping you with any problems you might have.

Do not be satisfied only by the above mentioned points. You should conduct further research to check on the background of the organisations behind the products, their quality, reliability and reputation. Wherever applicable, testimonials must be obtained and verified.
Study the affiliate agreement and assess the organisations you are dealing with. Check their quality of service by sending them an email or calling them to see how quickly and how effectively they respond - or if they ever respond at all. Assess their affiliate products. If you yourself are not convinced by the quality and effectiveness of the products, drop it and move on to another program.

There are sites which review, compare and recommend some great affiliate programs. You should be able to find some programs with the right categories of products to sell.

Like most search engines, visitors love content of our websites. Content is one of the most important aspects of attracting potential prospects to your web sites and prompting them to become customers based on the "AIDA" logic i.e. Attention, Intention, Desire and Action.

As far as possible, choose affiliate programs which relate to what you are already doing, and then promote those products.

Join relevant online discussion forums and seek information and advice from those who are already successful being an affiliate.

Once you have decided, draft a simple business plan, set target of your goals, budget your expenditure, follow the instructions given, be fully committed and go for it!

See you in the Web. Start taking your first step tonight in your pyjamas! Good luck!
